For Faculty

Every student at the University of Maryland been given access to an electronic portfolio through Portfolium. Students can use this e-portfolio to showcase course work and other experiences from their academic careers. They can use these experiences to demonstrate skills and abilities to future employers in a manner that is more accessible and at a deeper level than can be achieved with just a transcript and a resume.

In order for them to collect and connect their experiences, they will need things to place in their portfolio. This is where you as intructors come in. Think about the work that you are having students do in your class. Is there something that you are already having them do that could be used to demonstrate to the outside world that they have developed certain skills? If so, encourage them to place this work in their Portfolium site as a project.
